Fire & Potty

Ding, ding, ding! goes the alarm.
The firemen slide down the pole.
Clang, clang, clang! goes the fire engine bell.
The chief is on his way.

That is how one of Colton's story books, The Fire Engine Book, begins.  Besides his love of books, he has begun to act out pretend play.  One of the current favorites is to play fireman.

Hurry, hurry!  Jump on the hook and ladder truck.

The chief tells his men what to do.
In this round, Hollyn is the chief - he is in her hand telling Colton, the fireman, what to do.

Quick! Connect the hoses!
 S-s-s-s! goes the water.
Crank, crank. Up go the ladders.

Sput, sput.  out goes the fire.
Tired firemen and people go home.
Hooray for the brave firemen!

The Fireman also goes on the potty!

Colton has been using the potty very consistently since Thanksgiving when we made the big move to pull ups.  Ever since the holidays were behind us, Jason and I have deliberated when we should make the jump to undies.  With the support of Colton's teachers and a little leap of faith, we started undies the last weekend in January.  It helped they were Mickey undies and they arrived under our Christmas tree from Santa.

The first weekend was touch and go, we used pull ups when we left the house (but they remained dry!).  The true test was daycare starting on Monday, January 27th.  Colton made it the first week with only a few accidents and we're now four days into week number two accident free.

We are so proud of our little man, and he is rather proud of himself too!
I did it! I made pee-pee!  Look, Dada!
