January snapshots

Jason traveled to NYC during the week for a good part of January.  Colton and I missed him very much.  To keep "Dada" from missing us too much we sent regular photos and videos to make him smile.

Here are several of our January snapshots.  Many have been taken by my iPhone so apologies for the quality of some.

Don't cry over spilled milk

... We certainly didn't!  Jason and I were getting organized after dinner while Colton was content finishing up his dinner.  In a matter of seconds, milk was everywhere.

I know I'm making a mess but it's so much fun!
(Sorry about the drips on the window and door behind me)

Playing all innocent before splashing some more.

Now hit the tray so the milk splashes everywhere!

Who, me?  I didn't make a mess (despite the milk dripping from my forehead)!

Piano

As you may have figured out from our blog, Colton loves music.  We showed him the piano for the first time and he was enamored.

The piano was given to me from my Grandma when Laura and I lived off Elmwood and it has been with me ever since.  I had taken years of piano lessons as a kid and admittedly it has been years since I have touched the keys.  Maybe that will change now that Colton has taken a strong liking to the piano.  It is so nice to see another generation enjoy our family piano.

Winter Faire

Colton and I joined Emily, Elliott and their friends for an afternoon at the Aurora Waldorf School's Winter Faire.  There were many fun activities for children along with an excellent array of food and snacks for us grown ups.  I think I enjoyed two lunches that day!  Colton and Elliott were a bit little for some of the organized activities so they found their own fun.

Dancing to the music!  There was a fun game of musical chairs where kids could win cupcakes from Swirls in East Aurora.  We stayed away from the cupcakes and instead enjoyed the music.

What is more fun than dancing?  Playing on stairs!  Elliott is an amazing little climber and both boys were thrilled with the steps, stage and lack of railings.  Us moms tend to disagree so after a bit of fun we were on to something new.

Two toddlers, a chair, and a loose wooden dowel = endless minutes of entertainment

I tried to capture a picture of simultaneous tongue sticking out (the sign indicating these boys are deep in concentration).  Unfortunately my timing didn't deliver but I think you can gather the intense focus of these two smart little men.

If only all chairs were this intriguing!

All the excitement and play wore Colton out.  He took a three hour nap when we arrived home.  Thanks Emily and Elliott for asking us to join you, we can't wait for our next outing.

Friends

Our friends Erik, Trish, and Kayla visited from North Carolina earlier in the month.  Colton absolutely loved to have a friend around.  Jason and I also had a great time.

On the move - Kayla is almost one year old and is an excellent crawler.  She pulls herself up and literally had her first step while visiting her grandparents on this trip.  Colton was eager to show her his walk and other times he just crawled with her.

Fun with Hailey (the cat who has no tolerance for adults but loves the kids)

Colton's new favorite perch.

Getting  little work done.  Not sure if Colton is thrilled with sharing.

I don't recall why Colton lost his jammies --
nonetheless, he is more than happy to hang out in a diaper.

We miss having a full house.  Hopefully we see Erik, Trish, and Kayla again soon.

Rub-a-dub-dub

Rub-a-dub-dub... Colton and Elizabeth are in the tub!  We enjoyed a Sunday family dinner with Grandpa G.  Since it was Colton's bath night, Elizabeth decided to jump in on the fun.

Hope you enjoy a few photos of their fun in the tub.

TP

Colton has discovered the roll of toilet paper (and mardi gras beads, but that's another story).

So you think you can dance?

Colton has randomly started to dance.  We love his little moves.  He broke them out at Best Buy while we were walking down the speaker aisle.   We didn't catch the Best Buy moves on camera but have a little video of Colton at home.  I just can't stop laughing!

Brunch & Masterpieces

After ringing in the new year with friends - we met CC, MC, Elizabeth and Uncle Jon for brunch.  For the record (and Jason's bragging rights), Colton much prefers Daddy's eggs with hot sauce.

Later in the day Colton broke out his new art supplies from Aunt Amy and Uncle Steve.  He was very excited - can you tell?

After a bit of drawing, Colton became more memorized with meticulously fitting all the crayons in the box.   Yup, he takes after Mommy.

Check out the tongue of concentration!

All the excitement of success caused him to dump the box out all over the floor!

Back to the drawing board.
