I have told you about Sophie, Colton's numerous favorite things around our home, and his love for music. The latest and greatest objects that bring a smile to Colton's face are lights. All lights. Pendant lights, halogen lights, floor lamps, chandeliers, lights on ceiling fan -- you name it, he will point.
Colton points and says "dah da" -- translation: let me touch that!
By the way -- Colton has learned to climb the stairs!
Our Thanksgiving weekend continued with celebrating Jason's Birthday. Happy Birthday to my thoughtful and loving hubby -- and the best Dad a little boy could wish for.
I love unwrapping presents, but I'm not getting off my bike.
Jason and I have much to be thankful for this year. We have been blessed with the most loving, joyful, and hangsome little man. Colton has brought our lives more happiness that we could have imagined.
We are thankful for our family and friends, our good health, and the laughter in our home that makes life fun (I'm thankful for Jason's good sense of humor).
We are also thankful to have joined over 14,000 runners to complete our seventh Turkey Trot together. Jason and I have ran the race every year since 2005 with the exception of last year and hope to do it for years to come. This year's record high temperatures and lack of snow did not take away any of the holiday spirit that comes with this race. To me, this race kicks off the holiday season. I should also note, 2012 is likely the only time I will run the race in a tank top and capris!

Music is quickly becoming Colton favorite. While many kids watch cartoons, this guy watches music videos. Each song on this list represents a family memory during Colton's first year.
Song: Pretty Fly - The Offspring
The night Colton was born, this song came on the radio when Jason drove home from the hospital at 3am. Jason would sing it to Colton throughout our time at the hospital... "And all the nurses say he's pretty fly for a white guy."
Song: Hell on Heels - Pistol Annies
When he was not feeling well, this was the first song that would help put Colton. We would play it for him on youtube. After not too long, he could recognize this song on the radio.
Song: Someone Like You - Adele
Colton loves Adele! We have DVR'd multiple Adele performances. They have been watched more than a few times... to calm the little guy.
(I've Had) The Time of My Life - Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - Dirty Dancing
Colton was struggling through a fever and crying when Dirty Dancing was on the TV. The closing scene came on and Jason picked him up and began to dance with him. Before the scene was over, Colton was sound asleep. To this day the closing scene of Dirty Dancing can bring smiles to Colton's face -- well, more like a blank mesmerized stare.
Stuck On You - Lionel Richie
A Colton and Daddy favorite.
Pontoon - Little Big Town
Little Big Town sang the song Jason and I choose for our First Dance at our wedding. This is their 2012 summer hit.
Ho Hey - The Lumineers
A new favorite that stops Colton in his tracks.
Elmo's Song
A recommendation from Colton's teach Miss Lisa. They sing this at school and Colton tries to "La la la la" while dancing.
Colton started to take steps on his Birthday. Since then he has gone between crawling and walking, with crawling generally preferred. Today was the first day he walked more than crawled. We are so proud of our little guy. When you watch the video, you will see he is rather proud of himself as well.
When he doesn't want to walk or crawl - he pushes things!
Oh yea, Colton has started to dance. We did not show him how to do this. His love for music has prevailed and when he hears a song, he twists (with a few random kicks here and there)
This time with his toothbrush and a little bit of country
It often takes me a few attempts to complete a post. I was scanning my blog dashboard and stumbled upon one I never posted, I never even uploaded the video! Better late than never...
Colton has started to say Da Da. It has taken a bit of effort but we have finally captured these sweet little words.
Colton joined Jason as I as we exercised our right to vote. Last year we were on maternity/paternity leave so we hit voted mid-day. This year, it was after work and before heading to parenting class. What a difference a year makes!
Our little man is exploring everything. Whether it be kitchen cabinets, air ducts, drawers, or closets; Colton can easily entertain himself. Here he is keeping himself busy emptying the shelves in our closet. Check out his little grin about twelve seconds in -- he is very proud of himself!
Colton first started to ride on Daddy's shoulders months ago. It is his happy place. No matter how upset he may be, he turns to all smiles when Jason lifts him up.
