A day in the life

Colton's little world is ever changing as he grows.  Below are a few pictures from his latest adventures - including the start of his big boy car seat!

Colton is Mommy's little buddy.  From manicures to Wegmans - we go everywhere together.
He even helps to coordinate fabric!

22 lb Colton + approx 11 lb Baby Carrier = too heavy for mom!
Colton loves his new seat - he can sit more upright and stretch!

While she still looks a little frightened of her cousin, we are making good progress since Easter
This time Colton didn't try to put her head in his mouth.

Handsome rest

Colton has always been a decent sleeper.  He generally sleeps from 8 p.m. - 5 a.m. (and back to sleep until 6:30/7) - a day or two a week he will make it all the way through to 7 a.m.  Despite Jason and I trying to figure out the pattern, his sleep remains unpredictable.  This being said, where he has chosen to fall asleep recently has been quite a surprise.  Below are a few of Colton's more unique sleep locations.

Colton's menu has expanded over the past month, he now eats squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, beans, zucchini (a favorite!), broccoli, apples, mangoes, and pears.

Carrots put him right to sleep.

Six

Colton is six months old today!  Jason and I are amazed with how much he has changed.  He is a very interactive little guy - he watches every move we make and looks for us if we leave the room.  He is also mesmerized by Hailey the cat - his whole face lights up when she walks by.  He is slowly learning to be gentle when he pets her, unlike what he does when he pulls my hair.

Colton has also developed quite the attachment for his Sophie the Giraffe.  When he sees her he yells with excitement and shakes his arms until he gets a hold of her - then she is immediately put in his mouth.

Our lives have been happily changed with Colton over the past six months.  Jason and I cannot imagine our world before him - spending time with our little hangsome guy (yes, hangsome) is our favorite part of every day.

What a Difference a Year Makes

A year ago today we were on a cruise ship celebrating our Dad's 60th - this year, there are two little people in our lives who were there to celebrate Grandpa "G" and his 61st Birthday!

Grandpa G's Birthday was spent at home.  Laura, Jon & Elizabeth came over with Chinese while Jason was traveling in NYC.  The highlights of our evening included Elizabeth having a little "leak" on Aunt Leigh when I changed her diaper and Colton having a bit of a blow out (which was initially mistaken as sweet potatoes) all over Aunt Laura's shirt and on his bouncer.  Oh how life has changed.  With all the excitement we even forgot to catch a picture of Grandpa G with the both of the kiddos.

I'll let you guess who was doing the eating & tearing!

Colton's Christening

Colton was Christened April 15, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lancaster.  Aunt Laura and Uncle Steve accepted the role of Godparents while Colton became a member of the church.  It was very special to have our family together with so much love for Colton.

This is Colton in the morning of his big day - he approves of the cake!

My friend Kate's mom, Sally, spent countless hours designing and
sewing Colton's Christening gown.  The gown is something we will cherish and keep for years to come.  Maybe some day little baby Smith #2 will come along and wear the same gown (if he/she is big like Colton!)

Thank you to all of our family and friends who made today so special for Colton, Jason and myself.  It means so much to us to have had all of you with us.  To recognize special people in Colton's life who we remember, flowers on the altar at church were in memory of my grandparents, John & Dorothy Binis and Gerard Oehler & Catherine Righter and Jason's grandparents William & Margaret Smith.
