Gobble Gobble

We have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.  Our world has changed in the past year - we are thankful for our growing family and all the loved ones in our lives.

For the past 6 years Jason and I have started our Thanksgiving morning with the Turkey Trot.  This year, I am taking a pass due to my c-section and Jason had planned to run solo.

We had a change of plans whwn Colton decided to wake up at 2:45 a.m.  Instead of joining the over 13,000 runners this year, we took the morning easy and went to meet Aunt Lauren at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

 Starting to smile!

Happy Birthday Daddy

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband.  This year we have an extra special little person to celebrate with!  Jason turns 33, and Colton is now 5 weeks old!

"Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday to Daddy..."

Cuddle time, bath time & bed time - all with Daddy!

They're home

Grandma and Grandpa Smith are finally home from their one month vacation in Myrtle Beach.  They drove directly to our house following their long drive to see how Colton has grown.  Luckily our blog, many emails, and lots of phone calls have kept them up to date with all of Coltons changes over the month.

One Month Today

It is hard to believe Colton is already a month old!  The time has gone by rather fast and it seems he changes every day.  He now follows us around the room with his eyes and is making new noises every day.

Daddy's Projects

We are very fortunate Jason has six weeks off from work to spend with Colton and I.  We are also using this time for a little work around the house.  This week Jason tiled the back splash in the kitchen - I am so happy I no longer have to worry about splashed water on the drywall!  While Colton pitched in a bit, we primarily helped staying out of the way.

"before"
Making progress, almost done with Day 1 of the project.

During the project Grandpa Greg stopped by for a surprise visit.  Colton was a little fussy but settled down once he was walked around the house.

To stay out of the way, Colton and I headed out for a walk. Kat and London joined us for what may be our last walk in the neighborhood until Spring (although we hope this isn't true).

"After"

One more little project: installing closet shelving in the guest room (which may one day be Colton's big boy room)

Ready for bed after a long day of work!

Football Sunday

Colton dressed up for the Bills Game and spent time with Dad while I attended a baby shower.  Unfortunately his outfit did not bring the Bills much luck during the game.

We were glad to have Trish & Erik visit from NC.  They are expecting their little girl in February - yet another little friend for Colton.

At the end of a busy weekend, Colton and I finally had some cuddle time on the couch.

Big Day

Saturday was a big day for two reasons, after neary four weeks...

 1.  Colton's umbilical cord finally fell off!

 2.  Mom & Dad had a night out!

A perfect little "innie"

Grandma CC and Grandpa MC came over while we headed out to a neighborhood party.  This was the first time we were both away from Colton - we knew he was in good hands.  While we were out Colton was on his best behavior.  He ate, cuddled, and didn't even have a poopy diaper.  He did, however, save two poopy diapers for Daddy once we got home.  Thanks Mom and Mike for giving us a night out!

Fun with Daddy

Colton helped Dad exercise his right to vote on Election Day, November 8, 2011.  Colton was the center of attention with all the volunteers at the polling place!

Colton turned 3 weeks old!  This means Daddy still has 3 more weeks to spend at home with us (and tile the kitchen backsplash!  ...thanks honey xoxo)

While Mom had a night out with the girls, Colton joined Dad for a Daddy's Night at the Van Deusen house.  Pizza, beer, and diaper changes!

The Daddy night crew:  Aaron & London (6 weeks); Jason & Colton (3 weeks); Cory, Amelia (4 1/2 months) & Allie (3 years).

Poodles

On Sunday, Colton visited Grandma CC and Grandpa MC in East Aurora for the first time.  He slept all the way there (loves the car) and was ready to meet all the poodles.

Colton first met Sinbad who was bribed by cookies to behave around the baby.

Grandpa Mike found the dancing and singing Elmo and played it for Colton.  Colton loves to hear music.

Before we left, Hutch finally came inside from the backyard.

A little time with Daddy before heading home.

On the Move

Colton is now two weeks old!  He is has begun making eye contact and now recognizes Mom & Dad.  He has also becoming much stronger and loves to hold his head up.

Now that he is a little bigger (8 pounds), Colton got out of the house and was able to have a few little adventures.  Below are some of the pictures from our outings!

Colton and I took our first walk in the neighborhood with Kat and little London. We made is just about a mile when Colton had enough so we headed home.  Once we walked in the door he was quiet.  He must have known he was home.

Friday night, Daddy was invited to the Sabres game so Colton joined me and attended his first Girl's Night with our Bootcamp friends.  Everyone was excited to meet him.  While I think he was excited for the party, he slept the entire time we were gone.  We made it home safe (this was also the first day I was back to driving), and he woke up just after we got home.

Fist pump with Sarah

Colton (finally) met his little neighbor Amelia Van Deusen.  We went for a walk and her mom, Danielle, helped me pick out a back splash tile for our kitchen.  Amelia and Colton were not much help with selections but both were quite the whole time we were there.  This was the most beautiful 70 degree day in November!
